Our new pet

Makenna & Tyler have asked for a cat since Calic died (which was over 2 years ago).  I don't really know why we decided to go ahead & do it now.  But we have been talking about it & it just seemed like the right time.  We wanted to get a rescue cat not kitten.  I wanted one that already knew how to use the kitty litter.  So we went to Petsmart where we volunteer to clean the cat cages.  The cats there are from our local animal protection services.  The angels took three cats out of their cages to see how they act & react with them.  And they both decided on a white & black cat.  It was friendly, cuddley, active & litter trained.  They think it is around 10 or 11 months old.  It has been in the shelter pretty much its whole little life except for some time with a foster family.  The lady that works at Petsmart was happy the cat was being adpoted but also sad because she has grown attached to it.  She told us all about "our" cat, different tricks it could do, what treats he likes,etc... In fact the next day when we came back to take the cat home she told us she got to work at 5am so she could say "good-bye".  Actually, quite a few employees came to say "good-bye" to our cat.  Which makes me assume we got a really good cat.  The first day in its new home was as expected, it hid under the bed.  Wouldn't eat, go to the bathroom, nothing.  But since then it has done much better.  As I type this he keeps jumping on my lap & trying to rub his little head againist the keyboard.  So cute.  After a few names were thrown out (like Oreo (do you wanna guess who chose that name?), Winnie, Boomer) we settled on Radar.  All because Mike thought his black tail looked like a radar.  Ok.  It kinda fits him.  Plus, now we have Riley &Radar, that's cute :)
